I attended the Document Organisation Workshop after my mother passed and left behind a large envelope of papers I honestly did not understand. Within three hours, I had a clear folder system and — more importantly — I knew what each document actually was. Siriporn was patient and never made me feel like I should have known these things already. The written summary she gave me at the end has been so useful.

My Thai wife and I booked the Family Conversation Support session because we kept getting stuck in the same circular discussion about property arrangements and what should happen if one of us is no longer around. David did a good job of keeping things calm and helping us actually hear each other. We did not resolve everything that afternoon — I don't think that was the expectation — but we both left with a clearer list of questions to take to a lawyer. Exactly what we needed.

We took the full package for our family of four adults — my husband, his two siblings, and myself. We had documents going back fifteen years that nobody had ever properly sorted. The process took about six weeks and several sessions, which I expected, but by the end we each had a copy of the resource directory and actually knew which government office to go to for each type of matter. That clarity alone was worth the cost.

As someone who has lived here for eight years but is still not fluent in Thai bureaucracy, the workshop was reassuring in a way I didn't expect. I came in worried I had been missing something important in my document pile. Turns out most of it was in order — I just hadn't understood what I had. Knowing that was genuinely calming.

My parents are elderly and there are six of us in the family, spread between Phuket and Bangkok. The conversation session helped us actually talk about practical matters that we had all been avoiding — not dramatically, just in a structured way. Nattaya helped schedule everything around my parents' availability, which was much appreciated. The only thing I'd say is that the session went a little quickly in the final half hour, but overall it was valuable.

I was referred to kinfoldgag by a friend who had completed the full package. I booked just the workshop first and then, a few months later, came back for the conversation session when I needed to bring my adult children into the picture. Being able to use the same organisation as a second step made it easier — they already understood how I'd organised things.

Case Studies

Three family journeys, in brief

Details changed to protect privacy. Shared with family consent.

Case Study 01

A retired couple preparing shared arrangements

Challenge

A retired Thai-Australian couple in their late sixties had property documents, insurance certificates, and personal identification files spread across three separate folders with no clear system. They were uncertain which documents were current and which were outdated, and had not discussed their shared arrangements with their adult children.

What We Did

Completed the full Learn, Organise & Signpost Package over five sessions across four weeks. Sorted and labelled all documents, provided plain-language explanations of each category, and facilitated a family conversation session with the couple's two adult children — one present in Phuket and one joining by phone from Sydney. Delivered a tailored resource directory including land office contacts, insurance renewal processes, and relevant community support organisations.

Outcome

All four family members left the process with a shared understanding of what documents existed and where they were kept. The couple subsequently visited the Phuket land office — from the resource directory — to clarify one outstanding matter. The family reported feeling "considerably less anxious" about the topic overall.

"We had been putting this off for three years. Once we started, it wasn't as daunting as we'd imagined."

Case Study 02

Adult siblings navigating documents after a bereavement

Challenge

Three adult siblings in their forties and fifties came to kinfoldgag several months after the death of their father, with a collection of documents they had not been able to face sorting. Sibling communication had become strained and they were unsure which documents were relevant to their situation and which were not.

What We Did

Began with one individual session with each sibling separately, then a joint document review session, followed by a Family Conversation Support session to address communication. Provided a document category summary and a targeted list of official offices relevant to their specific situation, clearly noting which steps required a licensed professional.

Outcome

The siblings reached a shared understanding of which documents existed and agreed on a joint next step with a local lawyer — something they had been unable to coordinate before. The session did not resolve their legal matters (that was not our role), but it helped the family get to a point where they could have that conversation with a lawyer together.

"kinfoldgag gave us a starting point. That was what we needed."

Case Study 03

A solo expatriate building a personal document system

Challenge

A German resident in her early fifties, living alone in Phuket for twelve years, had accumulated documents across multiple categories — property, visas, insurance, banking — but had never created a coherent system. She was concerned about what would happen to these records if she were suddenly unavailable and wanted to ensure a trusted person in Germany could make sense of her affairs.

What We Did

Completed the Document Organisation Workshop plus an additional session to build a written index of all documents. Created a bilingual (German/English) folder legend so that her nominated person in Germany could understand each category. Provided a resource directory in both languages pointing to relevant Thai consular contacts in Germany and Phuket-based offices.

Outcome

A clearly organised physical and digital folder system with a bilingual legend. The client shared the digital index with her sister in Frankfurt and reported that "it was the first time she felt settled about her situation here." She subsequently recommended kinfoldgag to two friends in the Phuket expatriate community.

"I felt embarrassed that I hadn't done this sooner. Siriporn made that feeling go away quickly."
